" Glen Terrence Walls pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing and making child

was also charged with two counts of indecently assaulting a student while
he was a teacher at Xavier, one of Melbourne’s leading Catholic boys’ schools."

An award-wining contemporary artist and former teacher at a prestigious Melbourne school has been found guilty of possessing child pornography.
The charge arose after detectives found four images in the St Kilda home of 39-year-old Glen Walls.
The police contended the pictures depicted children in an indecent manner.
But Walls pleaded not guilty to the charge of possessing child pornography,
his defence arguing the images were art and had been created from separate pictures of the child and a naked man.
In sentencing, Magistrate Lisa Hannan said she accepted the former Xavier College art teacher
was an artist of some repute but the defence of artistic merit did not excuse the pictures' content.
However she accepted the offences were at the lower end of the scale and fined Walls $750.
No conviction was recorded.
Editor's Note: Mr Walls subsequently appealed against the decision and on July 14, 2003,
the Melbourne County Court dismissed the charge against him.
The court also ordered that the Chief Commissioner of Police pay Mr Walls's costs. ♦ https://www.abc.net.au/news/2003-05-29/artist-fined-over-child-porn-pictures/1862014

Did the witness have "second thoughts" for some reason?

Seems to be aggrieved at the police and blaming God for some character flaws.
